Title: Thakurmar Jhuli Princess, monsters and magical creatures

The crux:

This is a collection of stories for kids to develop their imagination. The stories are divided into 3 parts each with four or five stories.

Part1:Churning Milky Oceans- With 5 Princess stories, each one explaining and developing the imagination for both kids and adults. My fav stories from this part are Kiranmala which tells us about the bravery of a young girl who saves herself as well as her brother's. Seven Champak flowers that tell about the pure affection of kids towards their mother & Princess kalavati which explains & explores the bravery of two princes who were hiding themselves in the skin of an owl & a monkey. Needle King tells the story of the true friendship of a cowherd with a king.

Part 2: Land of Monsters which have four stories about monsters. Neelkamal & Lalkamal & Gold wand, silver wand are my favourites. The former story tells us about the bravery of Ajit and Kirit who turns to be neelkamal and Lalkamal. The later story tells us about a prince and princess story and how the prince saves everyone from the dangerous Rakhoshi and her evil plans.

Part 3: Chatter Natter this part consists of three wonderful stories and a cute rhymes to wind up. Finger and a half are my most fav of these, which elaborates about a cute little & unique finger and a half-sized newborn kid who has special powers and his affection towards his parents.

My two cents:

The story and imagination are just fantastic and it is beautifully translated. The language is simple and it is a gripping read not only for the kids but also for the grown-ups. Loved reading this translation that brought back fond memories of my childhood days and storytelling sessions. It is wonderfully translated by Sutapa Basu in English, which was originally written in Bengali by Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumder. The cover page of the book is so attractive which grasp a readers attention be it a kid or adult. The feel of holding this in paperback format is amazing. I would recommend tis cute read to all.
